Authorization date September 07, 2023
Technical Description "Trichogramma wasps, a biological control agent against Lepidopteran pests, traditionally deployed using stapling egg sheets. Encapsulating the egg sheets within Trichogramma wasps release ball can reduce the environmental impact of the Trichogramma wasps, during its emergence and reduce the threat of predation, keeping the emergence success rate above 80%. Integrating pest management strategies in field test showed that both the traditional egg sheets and the release spheres offer comparable control efficacy against Spodoptera frugiperda (fall armyworm), with damage rates on sweet corn ears kept below 4%. The mass production technology of Parasitoid wasp ball includes sourcing methods for pulp shell materials, laser slit processing parameters, encapsulation procedures, and relevant automation equipment suppliers. These release spheres also have potential for drone-based deployment, paving the way for labor-saving and large-scale biological control in the future."
