A Hidden Honey Wonderland: Four New Grass Jelly Varieties Create a Multi-Layered Mesona Flower Sea

On December 30, 2024, the Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station held its very first “New Grass Jelly Variety Demonstration and Observation Session” at the Hualien Organic Agricultural Research Center. This event showcased four newly bred grass jelly varieties developed at the Hualien Station, featuring a sea of blooming Mesona flowers across the research center grounds. The flowers began blossoming in late October, continued through Christmas, and even into the New Year, revealing strikingly layered hues among the new varieties.

The four new varieties of grass jelly each have unique characteristics.

On December 30, 2024, the Hualien Organic Research Center hosted a demonstration and observation event for the new grass jelly varieties, Hualien No. 1 to No. 4.
