Daylily New Varieties in Bloom
The HDARES has injected new vitality into the daylily industry! Through cross-pollination among parent lines and selective breeding of the progeny, they successfully developed seven daylily varieties—“Hualien No. 1” through “Hualien No. 7.” To help the public better understand their characteristics, the station held an open-field variety viewing event for “Hualien No. 1–No. 7” at a licensed grower’s field in Jiade Flower Fields on May 6, 2025—just before Mother’s Day. The timing highlighted the symbolic meaning of daylilies as Mother’s Day flowers, adding emotional value to the consumer market. The event was very well received, and the blooms are still on display—everyone is welcome to visit.
