Agricultural Production Environment Reconstruction Project Briefing Session
The Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Ministry of Agriculture (hereinafter referred to as HDARES), held three “Agricultural Production Environment Reconstruction Project Briefing Sessions” from April 22 to 24. Associate Researcher Ni Li-feng of the Soil and Fertilizer Laboratory explained to farmers the results of farmland improvement and re-cultivation trials following damage caused by the Matai’an River overflow, and introduced the implementation details of the project. The project aims to help farmers in disaster-affected areas restore soil fertility. Work in “lightly affected areas” is scheduled to begin first from June to October 2026, while work in “moderately affected areas” is scheduled from September 2026 to August 2027. Farmers in general disaster-affected areas are requested to complete and submit the “Reconstruction Project Implementation Consent Form” by June 30, 2026, to any of the designated collection points, including HDARES, Fengrong Farmers’ Association, Guangfeng Farmers’ Association, or the Reconstruction Work Station near Guangfu Railway Station. Farmers are also asked to clear personal belongings from their fields in advance to facilitate the entry of machinery and accelerate the restoration of farmland productivity.
