Taiwan’s No.1 risotto rice ‘Hualien No. 26’
Risotto is a western rice dish that is popular among Taiwanese. It uses rice as the main ingredient rather than wheat. However, there has not been a rice variety bred for the purpose of risotto rice in Taiwan. After seven years of hard work, the HDARES of the Ministry of Agriculture finally developed the country's first risotto rice variety, 'Hualien No. 26', last year. In the future, it is expected to increase the diversity of the domestic rice market and also make the vast number of domestic risotto consumers can enjoy delicious risotto made from local rice varieties, allowing domestic rice to enter the risotto rice market.
